Maintenance & Engineering Manager
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance & Engineering Manager will lead maintenance systems, oversee continuous improvements, and execute long term strategic plans to improve the overall running of Aspire’s facility.Description
- Promote a Health and Safety, Food Safety, and GMP culture
- A focus on a Lean Culture that promotes performance by analyzing data to reduce waste, inefficiencies, while improving working conditions
- Responsible for researching and setting up the initial maintenance infrastructure
- Create clear standards, KPI’s, and policies ensuring all regulatory requirements are met
- Create and enforce a full Planned Preventative Predictive Maintenance program
- Oversee the overall activities of the maintenance team, rebuilds, emergency work, and job activities
- Liaise with the Executive and leadership team to provide best practices, analyzed data, and report uptime/downtime impact
- Accountable for all maintenance budgetary requirements, Inventory forecast, ordering parts, price negotiations
- Manage all contracted services and advise of potential risks
- Ensure immediate corrective action is taken on all breakdowns to ensure customer expectations and demands are met
- Seek continuous improvement by ensuring regular inspections, hazard analysis, risk assessments are completed
- Accountable for collecting and analyzing data, deviations, recommend solutions and provide improvement plans
- Implement preventative measures and verification procedures
- Ensure clear measurables are established for the Maintenance team. Daily/Weekly/Monthly performance reports
- Foster positive relationships with external vendors, regulatory bodies, and employees
- Develop and maintain SOPs, forms, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance and participate in internal and external audits (BRC/SQF)
- You will monitor Aspire’s Maintenance program and provide recommendations, mentor, and advise on required changes
- Provide guidance to direct reports. Complete performance reviews. Coach, mentor and advise employees
Requirements
- You have 5-7 years progressive maintenance/manufacturing/supervisory experience. Food manufacturing is considered an asset
- You have a degree in Engineering or a related discipline
- Red Seal Millwright/Electrician/Robotic Automation/ Refrigeration “B” is considered an asset
- You have experience setting up or implementing change within a maintenance department, setting up a preventative maintenance program
- You are experienced in automation and control (PLC, Allen Bradly), building, repairing, adjusting equipment
- Willing to be trained in different levels of Lean
- You can clearly communicate with all levels within Aspire Foods
- You have a strong attention to detail, clearly communicate both written and verbal
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work within a team with strong interpersonal skills to include leadership and collaborative influence skills
- Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Gmail
- If required, you can work outside of your normal work schedule
- May require some travel, Drivers licence is required
- You can stand for long periods of time, use of a respirator, bend, twist, kneel, and work in extreme cold when required
