Job Description
Summary of Duties
Reporting to the Manager, Special Events, the Event Attendant is responsible for assisting with events and activities at various parks and facilities including set up and take down of events, controlling access to the facility and monitoring participants and spectators. This position works on site in a public facing fast paced environment with event organizers while providing excellent customer service to all Londoners and visitors.
Work Performed
- Control access to facility and monitor participants and spectators at events.
- Ensure hallways and rooms are secure when not in use.
- Ensure walkways and entrance ways are clear of obstructions.
- Assist with the set-up and take down of programs, special events and rentals including moving equipment.
- Carry out and document the cleaning of the facility, hallways, performers rooms, stage, change rooms, washrooms and storage areas including duties such as sweeping and mopping per City of London Cleaning Protocols.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with the public and co-workers.
- Assist the event organizer with changing and emptying garbage and recycling receptacles.
- Assist event organizers by providing access to electrical, water, and grey water connections.
- Ensure washrooms are stocked with necessary supplies.
- Notify supervisory staff when building supplies need to be replenished.
- Conduct grey water removal, drainage as required.
- Conduct decibel readings.
- Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with stakeholders, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
- Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Coordinator or Manager.
Qualifications/Experience
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate (prior to start of employment)
- Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) (prior to the start of employment)
Specialized Training & Licenses
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.
- Knowledge of janitorial functions
- Ability to move furniture including tables and chairs
Compensation and Other Information
Rate of Pay: $15.50/hour
Work Location: Staff may be placed at any park location in the city and are required to provide their own transportation.
Employment Period: April-October
Hours: Hours may start as early as 6:00 am and end as late as midnight depending upon the event. Staff must be able to work varying hours.
Other: CSA approved green patch footwear is required
