Summary:
Recreation Facilities provide all citizens the opportunity to participate in recreation activities in a welcoming, clean, safe, and inclusive space.
Role:
Reporting to the onsite Coordinator/Supervisor, the Food Services Attendant works to provide City of London patrons with food and beverages in a safe and clean environment. This casual position is responsible for preparing and serving meals, point of sale transactions, proper food rotation and providing excellent customer service.
Job Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain food service areas to ensure cleanliness of tables and food service areas.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages.
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of food and beverages.
- Complete and accountable for all point-of-sale transactions, daily balancing including associated paperwork.
- Review menus, suggest menu ideas and discuss inventory quantities with Food Services Coordinator.
- Ensure all cash handling is completed in an accurate manner.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with the public and co-workers.
- Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
- Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC) (prior to the start of employment)
- Standard First Aid Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
- Safe Food Handling Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
- Smart Serve Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
- Kitchen experience is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.
- Knowledge of Board of Health and Liquor regulations.
Other Information:
Wage: $16.55 - $17.00 per hour
There are three different onboarding timelines based on staff availability and staffing needs:
- Hiring Period A.1: Training March 27, 28 - weekday, evening and weekend availability required - 24+ hours per week
- Hiring Period A.2: Virtual training April 29; in-person training May 9 - 10 - weekday, evening and weekend availability required - 24+ hours per week
- Hiring Period B: Virtual training June 12; in-person training June 15 - 16 or June 22 - 23 - weekday, evening and weekend availability required - 12+ hours per week
