WORK DESCRIPTION

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for contributing to the coordinated efforts of preparing and presenting a high quality shopping experience to all Farm Boy customers. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy vision, mission, and the Farm Boy Way.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide superior customer service to all in the spirit of the Farm Boy mission statement 
2. Have a passion for food and be able to communicate that passion to customers 
3. Knowledgably and confidently answer all customer questions as related to the product 
4. Welcome, greet customers and offer assistance as needed 
5. Handle customer complaints according to Farm Boy policies 
6. Stock display counters or shelves in keeping with high standards of presentation and ensure that the counters are fully stocked, organized and properly rotated/finessed at all times 
7. Ensure that the product is identified by a clean sign stating correct description and price 
8. Ensure proper stock rotation of all assigned items in the department and ensure excellent quality and value of all merchandise 
9. Keep the work and storage areas clean and safe at all times and keep the retail area faultless by keeping counters, display glass and equipment immaculate and performing general “housekeeping” as required 
10. Work as a team member lending support and assistance to fellow employees 
11. Comply with all health and safety standards and procedures, especially as they relate to equipment use and customer safety 
12. Accept the responsibility for designated opening and closing procedures as may be directed by the Department Manager 
13. Assist and relieve other members as may be requested by the Department Manager or designate
14. May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis 

The following skill sets are required for this position: 
  • Typically requires less than 1 year of experience in a retail environment plus partial completion of secondary school or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Superior standards of quality and cleanliness
  • Ability to work from directives with little supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Clear and effective communication style, both written and oral
  • Required to stand for long periods of time during shift
  • Required to lift, carry or handle heavy objects
