Summary of Duties
|
Under the direction of the Manager Employment Strategies or designate, the intern will will work closely with the London Circles team. The team is comprised of Social Services Employment Supports staff in partnership with Goodwill Industries staff. The intern will support the work of the initiative by: conducting research (including a literature review, best practice review and environmental scan) to assist in updating the initiative’s evaluation framework; and support the creation of internal and external communication tools and reports about London Circles.

Work Performed
|
- Reviewing and compiling evaluation methods and results of Circles initiatives across North America to inform a local plan
- Working with the London Circles team to plan and implement a mixed method evaluation of the initiative to identify and collect data to measure areas of impact including outcomes and transferrable elements to inform employment supports in the future.
- Attend Circles meetings to develop trusting relationships with Circles Leaders to facilitate and support potential individual and group interviews and other qualitative methods.
- On occasion and as status of primary tasks allow, work with the London Circles team to provide logistical support to monthly London Circles Big View meetings and special events

Qualifications
|
- A recent Under Graduate Degree from a social science discipline which includes research and evaluation methods. Interest in creative approaches to community development, system change and poverty reduction strategies.
- Good communication skills (in particular, ability to summarize and communicate large amounts of information and data in writing and using charts for easy comprehension)
- Competent computer skills including: Excel, PowerPoint, Word and online journal databases
Eligibility under the City of London Internship Program as follows (see below):
MUST MEET CRITERIA AS EITHER A NEW IMMIGRANT, PERSON WITH SELFDECLARED DISABILITY WHICH POSES EMPLOYMENT BARRIERS OR RECENT LOCAL POSTSECONDARY GRADUATE.

- Graduate of a recognized post-secondary education institute with Canadian equivalency, and

- Graduate of a recognized post-secondary education institute, and

Recent local post-secondary graduate:
- London resident who has graduated from a recognized post-secondary education institute within the past year and has limited work experience in their chosen field,
OR
- Graduate of a London area recognized post-secondary education institute within the past year, but not currently living in London
- Limited work experience in their chosen field.
