We are excited to grow and expand our team in St. Thomas, and seeking an experienced and knowledgeable service plumber, someone with residential new home plumber experience, thrives in a construction environment, from base work, to fixing taps and clearing sewers to above ground work and the finishing stages.

We are offering relocation assistance of up to a 3K ($1500 after 6 months of successful employment, remainder on 1-year anniversary).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain plumbing systems and components while ensuring accuracy to detailed maintenance reports and documentation
  • Check building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations Read and understand blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, piping system requirements and sizing
  • Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.
  • Troubleshoot plumbing systems, test for leaks and other problems, replace defective equipment and plumbing systems, such as sinks and toilets
  • Maintenance and repair of heating, water, and drainage systems in industrial or commercial establishments may be required
  • Install pipes and fixtures, locate and mark position(s) for pipe connections, cut opening walls and floors to accommodate pipe fitting, passage holes and fixtures
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
  • Fill pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking
  • Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using appropriate tools (ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob)
  • Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe
  • Maintain a working knowledge following health and safety standards, complying with all building codes, changes in technology and repair techniques
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with customers/clients, providing options, and recommendations to meet needs
  • Completes work orders, or job information sheets, and submits paperwork to the office in a timely manner
  • Coach/mentor junior technicians/Apprentices, and labourers when needed
  • Perform other assigned tasks and projects which may be assigned from time to time

REQUIREMENTS

  • 306A Plumbing License - Up to date – required
  • 3 years previous experience
  • Class G Ontario Driver's License - Up to date - Clean driving record - required
  • Gas ticket - Up to date - not required, but would be a plus
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Safety certified for working in construction (WHMIS, Workers Health & Safety)
  • Solid knowledge and comprehension of the Ontario Plumber Code
  • Reliable team player, who makes teamwork a priority
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible, adaptable, and willing to rotate on-call scheduled shifts
  • Task oriented, able to take initiative, follow tasks through to completion
  • Mechanical knowledge is an asset
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems
  • Strong understanding of plumbing systems

The successful candidate must be able to provide proof of double vaccination, unless a legislated category exemption applies.
