General Description

 

The Die Design Supervisor – Oversees the operations and functions of the Design Department, in order to achieve customer satisfaction while ensuring the company’s objectives are met.  These objectives include training and evaluation of department staff, quality, delivery and safety. The supervisor is in charge with a group of employees in the same trade.  The hold a trade qualification, which is used in the operation and has completed a prescribed post trades certificate course or achieved a comparable standard skill or knowledge.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, a team focus, and the ability to work in cross functional teams and develop collaborative relationships
  • Schedule and coordinate the hours/priorities of the team
  • Is responsible for applying policies and procedures.
  • Scheduling of crew and assign overtime as required.
  • Effective decision making and problem solving skills with the ability to work under pressure/stress to meet tight timelines and schedules
  • Knowledge of NX die design and manufacturing experience
  • Advanced knowledge in progressive and transfer dies.
  • Highly motivated and able to motivate others
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills as well as conflict resolution skills.
  • Mentoring of junior designers and programmers
  • Assigning, planning, monitoring and problem solving of design/programming processes to meet efficiencies, utilization and department goals.
  • Maintaining work standards.
  • Promotes a safe work environment and is responsible for the safety of their crew.
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Be able to take directions from the manager or direct crew independently.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Knowledge of WHMIS
  • Requires a valid First-Aid/CPR Certificate

 

Responsibilities

 
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Administer the Occupational Health and Safety Act as it pertains to supervisor responsibilities
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Thoroughly understand and implement quality control techniques
  • Prioritize work schedules to meet departmental goals.
  • Participate in the recruitment process
  • Make recommendations to improve productivity and reduce overall costs
  • Responsible for the team’s ability to meet goals and timelines.
  • Administer First-Aid when necessary
  • Lead by example
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Exposure to dirt and noise in a manufacturing environment
