Job Description
Aquatics-Full time (Centre Branch and Bob Hayward locations)
Head Lifeguard/Instructor
Head Lifeguard/Instructor
Nature and Scope: The Aquatic Team is responsible for the provision of a safe, friendly aquatic environment that meets the Serving All Members (SAM) standard.
Responsibilities:
- To instruct and ensure the continuity of swim lessons, progress reports, attendance and safety during lesson times
- To arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your shift to prepare for lessons (progress cards, lesson plans, equipment, staff resource sharing etc.)
- To instruct a variety of aquatic programming including Splashers/Bubblers (Parent & Tot) classes, Aqua-fit (YMCA will certify interested candidates in Aqua-fit programming adhering to a Personal Development Contract)
- Working professionally with Members, Volunteers and the Aquatic Team
- Solving participant/member concerns in a customer focused manner
- Proactively developing relationships with members, staff and volunteers
- Adhering to all Aquatic policies and procedures as outlined in manual
- Commitment to serving all members
- Demonstrating a commitment to YMCA Mission, Vision and Values
- Assuming other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- Hold Current Certifications in National Lifeguard Service, YMCA Swim Instructors, or Red Cross Swim Instructors or Lifesaving Swim Instructors, Aqua-Fit (asset), Standard First Aid with CPR-C
- Experience teaching Aqua-Fit programming or willingness to train
- Satisfactory Criminal Background and Vulnerable Sector Search

Other Position Details:
Start Date: ASAP
Shift Requirements: Must have open availability and willing to work early mornings, evenings and weekends
Hours of work: Approximately 32-44 hours per week. A variety of instructor/guard shifts
