Full-time, Permanent
St. Thomas, Ontario (Talbotville rural location) for first 6month training, then position location changes to Glencoe, ON

Reports to: Operations Manager Glencoe

SUMMARY:


The Workforce Planner Assistant is responsible for assisting and supporting the workforce team with daily work schedule preparation and monitoring greenhouse employee performance. The successful candidate will be assisting with determining daily labor demands and scheduling greenhouse staff appropriately based on the business needs. The Workforce Planner may also perform other tasks such as checking and adjusting the hours of employees, creating reports in enterprise to assist with scheduling, and working side by side with a team of greenhouse laborers to complete assigned tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Collect organizational data to generate a detailed daily task list
  • Assist with daily labor schedule preparation
  • Monitor the performance of greenhouse laborers and the greenhouse operating system to maintain high work standards
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and legally compliant workplace
  • Maintain established methods to meet work schedules and support work activities with other departments
  • Resolve work challenges and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Support production plans by providing information to ensure that production objectives are met
  • Maintain employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development
  • Support quality and productivity improvement initiatives
  • Assist with identifying and determining quality and productivity-related problems and solutions
  • Assist with developing team and individual employee skills and performance through the effective use of ongoing coaching, training, and progressive counseling
  • Assist with booking transportation arrangements for workers
  • On a predetermined schedule be responsible for the workforce phone
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned


REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Post-secondary education in a related field preferred (Horticulture or Agricultural studies)
  • 1-2 years experience in a Leadership role
  • Experience in the greenhouse industry an asset
  • A high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Proven leadership, decision-making, problem-solving and time management skills are required
  • Ability to stay focused under pressure
  • Ability to motivate and attain positive results from team members
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Must possess advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, and Excel

WORKING CONDITIONS:
 
  • On the floor training required of all greenhouse activities
  • Full-time hours based on business needs
  • Start times may vary significantly, flexibility for scheduling is a must
  • Required to work weekends & holidays as needed
  • Ability to work long hours during peak times
  • Must have own reliable transportation
  • This position may be exposed to elements such as noise, heat, cold
  • Overtime as required
