Job Summary
The General Manager will lead all activities within the department of Process Engineering and Development, Sales, Project Management, Design and Product Development.  Primary responsibility is to provide leadership, coaching and training to team members.  Ensure management teams are leading their teams for all America Plants for the Plastics business
Position: Permanent/Full- time
Wage: $140,000 - $160,000 per annum

Duties & Responsibilities
 
  • Lead, train, and educate the process and development management teams in research and development activity along with leveling up their skills to further their knowledgebase.
  • Lead the developing of new materials processes based on our customers’ needs and trends considering business case, cost, and performance improvements.
  • Organize and maintain process and development guidelines for best practices, workflow standards, and data knowledge of new technology/material development
  • Bridge Vuteq technical center Japan (VTCJ) and Vuteq technical center Americas (VTCA) on sharing information, collaboration of activities, tracking project progress, and approaching OEMs for new business
  • Present VA/VE benchmarking and advanced technology proposal activities to OEMs
  • Analyze technology, resource needs and market demands, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects as well as responsible to investigate / benchmark similar products
  • Participate in design feasibility and costing to support sales, design, tooling, and process development of parts for manufacturability at a competitive price
  • Support Vuteq Plants in new model launch activity as required
  • Responsible for managing all department-related resource requirements including staffing, workloads, training, and equipment, which is to be continually monitored and managed, including a Kaizen plan
  • Develop and improve project management tools, as well as the organization’s APQP workbooks
  • Implement ‘lessons learned’ from past product launches, while working with the Management team members to develop and improve Vuteq’s Project Management system
  • Train and coach department managers; train on project management fundamental tools, quality engineering, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ensure open and clear communicate from management team on the expectations of the customer to executive and sales team alike, and provide development team with new ideas based on customer needs
  • Review and approve all pricing to ensure accuracy and profitability
  • Develop and negotiate pricing structure internally and with customer
  • Main liaison between Vuteq Japan and VTCA
 
Job Qualifications

Education
  • Successful completion of a engineering Master’s degree from a University required (in mechanical or chemical engineering considered an asset)

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in plastics manufacturing, and automotive interiors
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in tooling, manufacturing, and design
  • Minimum 10 years of experience coordinating engineering projects and managing a team to ensure compliance with customer standards
  • Experience managing a small group of professionals
  • Excellent knowledge of plastics & Other automotive interior/exterior materials

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to manage time efficiently to meet deadlines set by customers
  • Prioritization skills; ability to adapt to changing demands (internal and/or external)
  • Interpersonal skills; ability to present technical information to customers in a professional environment
  • Conduct statistical analysis of data (performance/dimensional) to understand trends and implement corrective action
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive professional relationships with internal (Vuteq) and external customers
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to show versatility and resourcefulness when problem solving
  • Organizational skills; ability to organize tasks and deadlines while working on several different projects
  • Actively listening to customers, suppliers, and internal team members on project requirement changes
  • Ability to manage a small group of professionals towards a shared a goal
