ABOUT US:

We are a manufacturer of automotive parts in the London, ON region and are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to fulfill the roles and responsibilities pertaining to the management of all facets and functions of new programs development and model launch activity. 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Manager – Projects is to assist with the management of all aspects of the new programs development and model launches.  Key areas of responsibility include project management, relationship management, resource management, and reporting functions. This position is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and tracking of all functions and facets that pertain to new model launch activity.  This position is also responsible for ensuring that TSI-CN provides exceptional service to its customers by executing new model launches successfully and continuously delivering quality parts, on time.

RELATED JOB DUTIES:

Duties include but not limited to:

  1. Manages all aspects of new program development and launches through utilization and maintenance of Master Schedules
  2. Acts as the Driver and Subject Matter Expert for all new product model launches.
  3. Acts as the Engineering representative to all Customers and responds to inquiries.
  4. Develops and maintains new program plant action plans tracking open issues, planned actions, responsible parties, target completion dates, ongoing progress, and results through to closure.
  5. Coordinates and leads internal plant technical resources as necessary to support development and launch activities, including manufacturing, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials, lean manufacturing, tool technicians and corporate engineering resources.
  6. Coordinates, schedules, assigns and monitors team responsibilities guaranteeing project deadlines, quality standards and budget goals are met.
  7. Supports manufacturing management during transition of program from pre-production to production
  8. Assists in process development and implementation.
  9. Builds, maintains, and communicates product launch plans and tracks the deliverables, milestones, risks and dependencies from the cross functional launch team.
  10. Reviews parts/assembly prints that have been released for: 1) manufacturing feasibility, 2) process for cost savings, and 3) timing.
  11. Assists with development and implementation of all schedules (Part Trial, PPAO, HVPT, build-out, etc). 
  12. Maintains data spreadsheets identifying trial dates, quantity requirements, process, steel/component requirements, etc.   
  13. Works with Purchasing in the procurement of materials, components and services essential to the manufacturing of parts and assemblies.
  14. Works with Quality Departments on inspection of parts and assemblies produced from standardized assembly operations.
  15. Manages the progress of the project by means of periodic report meetings according to the phases established in SQAM.
  16. Reviews and compares released prints to the current print on file to identify any changes in dimensions, specifications, and/or bill of material or notes.
  17. Establishes and updates timelines for tooling trials, process sheets, flow charts, and other process engineering documentation for each part.
  18. Coordinates with internal departments to affect smooth and timely launch of tooling, fixtures, products.
  19. Coordinates with team to create PFMEA's., operator work instruction, control plans, visual aids, process plan detail and corrective actions.
  20. Maintains the Program Launch evidence books.
  21. Plans, conducts and directs engineering research and development projects
  22. Provides written reports of customer meetings.
  23. Anticipates bottlenecks, explores contingencies and provides escalation management throughout new product launch.
  24. Coordinates standardized work development and improvement, including completion of work element time studies, work balancing, operator instruction sheets and work cell layout.
  25. Coordinates and participates in training of production personnel, including department supervisors, technicians, and operators.
  26. Coordinates plant preparation and documentation for Launch Readiness and Effectiveness Reviews.
  27. Coordinates and manages any necessary bank builds and engineering changes.
  28. Participates in the development and corroboration of projects furthering the plant’s vision from formulating proposals to production launch.
  29. Directs all aspects of the project that could affect quality, timing and/or progress.
  30. Ensures team follows technical documentation procedures both internally and those set by customer.
  31. Fulfils all health and safety policies and procedures
  32. Other related duties as required

  1. Internal contacts:  All internal departments.
  2. External contacts:  All customers, suppliers, other manufacturing contacts

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:

  1. Ability to support the General Manager by effectively managing new product development and model  launches, and ability to execute required duties
  2. Ability to achieve project milestones and objectives in a timely manner with strong administrative skills
  3. Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and execute results within designated timeframes
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  5. Computer proficiency in using MS Office (Work, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  6. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with a high attention to detail
  7. Ability to work without Supervision

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, and SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Eight or more years of experience in automotive industrial management related role preferred with extensive knowledge of product development, new model launch management.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering related discipline considered an asset.
  3. Previous experience with product development and model launch management.
  4. Previous experience in managing the work output of the Team to deliver tasks on time
  5. Proven leadership and management ability with strong interpersonal skills and communication skills to carry out programs directed to the fulfillment of business and departmental objectives.
  6. Must be a team player and self-starter with excellent language and communication skills, who pays attention to accuracy and detail.
  7. Must possess excellent time management, multi-tasking, organizational, prioritization, and adaptability skills to effectively provide departmental support in an effective and efficient manner.


SCHEDULE: Full-Time, Monday - Friday

LENGTH:      Permanent
