position summary

Responsible for preparing set-up drawings based on customer and/or sales specifications, recommending appropriate materials to be utilized, preparing inventory call-out requirements, reviewing submitted projects and performing all relevant administrative funtions.

key responsibilities

prepare drawings

• preparing 3D set-up drawings based on customer and/or sales specifications
• developing CAD 2D drawings for CNC cutting
• determining scale and performing mathematical calculations
• preparing layouts, patterns or scaled drawings for construction
• operating peripheral equipment to prepare either full-size patterns or scaled drawings for construction

review and analyse submitted projects

• reviewing of projects and keeping abreast of new technologies/processes/materials to ensure that  the most current and cost effective products are utilized

identify material requirements

• specification of materials, hardware, electrical/lighting specifications and building techniques in accordance with manufacturing requirements

administrative

• maintaining materials records
• ensuring department library is equiped with current samples and literature
• organizing files/drawings and keeping a tidy organized file structure

meetings

• participating in design/production meetings and client/company discussions as required

required skills/experience/education

• completion of a secondary school and CAD drafting classes
• college diploma in a relevant field
• one to three years of experience in the exhibit industry (desired)
• proficiency in CAD software in 2D and 3D
• demonstrated knowledge of drafting, engineering, building techniques, mathematics and mechanical aptitude
• attention to accuracy and detail
• work visa for Canada and a SIN number
