Summary of Duties:
Reports to and carries out work under the direction of a designated Manager; provides professional landscape architectural advice in the planning and design of public and private places and spaces; leads and/or provides input into master plans; develops park and open space concepts, designs and working drawings; where applicable manages construction projects and coordinates capital programs; provides technical comments for development applications; develops new standards and specifications, and; where applicable directs the work of Parks Project Coordinators, students and others in the carrying out of these duties.
Work Performed:
- Provides input and professional advice for the long-term planning, design and management of public and private places and spaces.
- Provides input and professional advice on landscape issues related to facilities, services and matters, and the development of service level standards.
- Provides key input into setting priorities for capital investments for life cycle renewal of City assets, including managing the required technical studies and/or master plans to justify recommendations for specific services.
- Reviews and develops subdivision clauses to ensure implementation of approved concept plans and Environmental Impacts Studies.
- Evaluates subdivision plans for completeness and compliance with City standards and agreement conditions as part of construction processes and performance inspections in conjunction with land development.
- Provides recommendations on the acceptance and assumption of park development works completed on behalf of the Division.
- Reviews and/or provides costs estimates for subdivision works based on guidelines and current prices for the purpose of identifying potential claims and recommending payment authorization from City budget and/or reserves.
- Plans, administers, assigns, and/or reviews technical studies and prepares designs and estimates for associated construction of works.
- Reviews and recommends acceptance of various technical studies, designs, drawings, applications and proposals submitted by consultants, developers, contractors and others for approval by the Division.

- Coordinates the preparation and execution of Capital Programs and assists in the preparation and monitoring of Divisional budgets.
- Adapts or modifies technical methods or procedures to deal with deviations from accepted
- standards, precedents or situations.
- Researches, develops and recommends new updates to existing technical policies, standards and
- procedures of the Division to the designated Manager.
- Prepares written reports to various Committees of Council, and designated Manager.
- Chairs and/or attends meetings with other Divisional staff, other City Divisions, contractors, individuals, and other agencies to plan, discuss and coordinate capital projects.
- Reviews invoices for work progress and recommends payment.
- Designs, prepares cost estimates and tender documents for Division in-house projects.
- Supplies landscape planning and design and development information and advice, and liaises with applicants, agents, consultants, contractors, citizen groups, organized bodies, the general public, various government agencies and elected municipal officials, other municipal Departments and agencies, and others.
- Assists in the development of work plans and supervises, instructs and, where applicable, advises Parks Project Coordinators and other staff on technical matters related to assignments, assigning project priorities and managing projects to completion.

- Provides Managers as required with specialized advice and expertise concerning landscape planning and design matters.
- Attends meetings of Standing Committees, Advisory Committees and citizen groups as required to seek input from and present reports on public and private places and spaces; and landscape planning and design and development projects.
- Represents the Division and/or City as required on administrative and citizen advisory committees and at relevant conferences.
- Represents the designated Manager in his/her absence for the area of work described above.
- Gives professional evidence before the Ontario Municipal Board, other Boards and Commissions and the Courts
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture.
Experience:
Over five years related experience.
Specialized Training & Licenses:
Member of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects.
Valid Class G Driver's License and ability to attend site visits throughout the City of London.
Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and various software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Compensation & Other Information:
$63,506 - $92,303 (Level 16)
This posting is for 1 permanent full-time position.
Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Work Arrangement: On-site. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.
These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.
