Diply is hiring TWO Student Humor Content Creator Interns. This is a paid position.

“But Humor isn’t a category, it’s a feel—” Shhhh, young Padawan. Although you are correct that it’s a feeling rather than a topic, we made Humor a category here at Diply because we believe that funny doesn’t necessarily come easily. Not only that, but it’s also such an important part of living a good life that it should have a team of people dedicated to it.

We’re looking for someone who is super excited about spending their days reading the most shareable, most interesting, and most poignant content on the internet. For real. We’re going to pay you to look at memes and doggos on Instagram and to get abs without working out because you’ll be laughing so hard at yourself and your peers. We’re excited to hire someone who really gets what makes people laugh and who loves working on trendy, viral content.

This full-time job (40hrs/week) will run from May 15–August 31, giving you over three months of sweet, sweet employment and reprieve from your parents’ languishing cries that, “You’ll never get a job with that degree.” It’s also an opportunity to work at one of the coolest companies in the city, get experience writing for the most enormous audience possible, and have a really great summer.

About the role

You’ll spend your days creating fun, cheeky, interesting content that is compelling to our audience. You’ll roam through Instagram, delve through Reddit, and scour the internet for those perfect images to complement your article topic and breathe fun and wit into your content. You’ll pick topics that will target and interest our audience. You’ll learn from our incredibly talented in-house staff about how to craft entertaining and viral content. You’ll write articles that you’re proud to share with your friends and family. You’ll grow and get experience in a booming industry that’s expanding fast.

Your Skills

• You’ve got some jacked written and verbal communication skills and you aren’t afraid to flex ‘em.
• You have the innate ability to make any topic funny in an engaging and interesting way.
• You’re a creative self-starter who is comfortable taking initiative and working in collaboration with others.
• You have experience in a very fast-paced environment and can balance many tasks, priorities, and deadlines at once.
• You must have a knack for writing in a clear, concise, and entertaining manner.
• You must love to spend hours on the internet and get paid for it (don’t lie, you do it anyway).
• It is considered an asset if you have ever engaged in a heated debate about whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza (it doesn’t).
• Bonus points if your dream job includes surrounding yourself with a team of self-deprecating, meme-addicted, pun-infected, curiosity-ridden individuals who know exactly what millennials love.

The Ideal Candidate

• You must be available to work at least 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the writing team in our downtown London, Ontario office.
• You must be enrolled in a post-secondary program.
• You should have a passion for clear, correct writing and a sharp eye for detail.
• You not only accept change, but seek it out — the viral space is always changing.
• You understand how things go viral and why.
• You love reading, writing, and sharing gut-wrenchingly funny articles for a millennial audience.
• You have the ability to be engaging, humorous, and appealing in your work.
• You have fantastic knowledge of current popular culture. You know what’s trending and what will make people happy, even when their news feeds are oversaturated with sad stories.
• You always meet demanding deadlines. Getting married by your mom’s ideal age doesn’t have to be one of them.
• You’ve been told that your attitude is awesome.
• You have so many creative thoughts and ideas that even your mother finds you annoying.
• You are a comedian without a stage.
• You are already familiar with websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Imgur, Pinterest, Instagram, and Reddit.
