Summary of Duties:
The intern for the Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression team will have a unique opportunity to help support the ARAO team with intersectional research, policy/procedure review, and to act as a support to the community as key plans are launched in 2025. This intern will assist with the facilitation of events, engage in key learning opportunities related to anti-racism and anti-oppression and work at outreach events in the London community to highlight the work of the office and support community inquiries.
Work Performed:
- Assisting coordination and execution of project launch events with project staff
- Researching anti-hate and allyship resources for different equity-denied groups and audiences on the Project website
- Maintaining content and resources, and updating website with new resources as necessary
- Assistance with building a research library on City Hub for projects using the equity tool.
- Assistance with taking minutes and notes as required in community meetings
- Assistance with customer service inquiries into the ARAO office.
- Community engagement supports at London based events highlighting the work of ARAO
Qualifications:
Eligibility under the City of London International Student Graduate Internship Program as follows (see below):
MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- Have been an international student that has graduated within the last year from a recognized post-secondary educational institution in Canada, and
- Currently hold valid Post-Graduate Work Permit to be legally entitled to work in Canada, and
- Have an English language benchmark of level 6 or above.
Experience:
- Experience with research and policy analysis
- Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression
- The requirements for this internship position include: a robust understanding of systemic and interpersonal racism and oppression, an awareness of equity-denied communities in London, strong time management skills, excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, good experience with community engagement and outreach, good research skills and sufficient Microsoft application skills
Compensation & Other Information:
$21.78/hour
This posting is for one (1) temporary full-time up to 20 weeks position.
Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.
These hours of work are subject to change.
