Production Technician
Small Pharmaceutical Company- London

BLES Biochemicals, www.BLESbiochem.com  seeks a Production Technician for their London location.  BLES Biochemicals Inc., is the market leader for pulmonary surfactant in Canada, and manufactures and distributes BLES® (bovine lipid extract surfactant). BLES® is a pulmonary surfactant for use in the treatment of premature infants suffering from Neonatal Respiratory Distress Syndrome. BLES® is unique; there is no generic form of this product. BLES Biochemicals Inc. is a privately owned Canadian controlled pharmaceutical company.

The Production Technician’s responsibilities include:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES

LAVAGE- 25%

• Work with a team of qualified personnel in the collection of raw materials on a regular basis.
• Assist with scheduling and planning for raw materials collection dates.
• Assist with maintenance / cleaning of lavage equipment.
• Assist in the design process for new and existing lavage equipment.

MANUFACTURING- 75%

• Assist in purification of raw materials.
• Prepare solvents and solutions for use in the manufacturing process.
• Participate in the compounding and filling of finished product.
• Verify critical manufacturing steps executed by a second technician as prescribed in the BPRs.
• Reconcile raw material items after use in the manufacturing process.
• Perform sampling as required by the environmental monitoring programme.
• Perform cleaning and sanitizing in the production area as part of the sanitation programme.
• Perform daily cleaning and housekeeping in all work areas to maintain a safe working environment.
• Perform calibration, maintenance, and requalification on production equipment according to written procedures and schedules.
• Assist in the washing, storage and preparation of production glassware and supplies.
• Maintain production materials and manufacturing & janitorial supplies inventories and restock or submit requisitions as required.
• Perform other support duties to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
• Perform all work activities in a safe manner and in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Carry out related tasks as requested by the Production Supervisor or Production Manager.

If you have:

A Community College Diploma or University Degree in any field in natural sciences

• Laboratory technician experience
• A mechanical aptitude
• Be physically and mentally prepared to work on a weekly basis at our collection sites
• Experience in a sterile/clean working environment
• Knowledge of GMP as they apply to the production and distribution of sterile pharmaceutical products
• Ability to meet regular deadline production for customers
• Able to work both independently and within a team environment
• Ability to share knowledge and experience with team members
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills needed
