Continuing Professional Development (CPD) develops and provides accredited professional development learning activities for faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, as well as continuing medical education programs for practicing physicians and allied health professionals in South Western Ontario and nation-wide. CPD supports programs and departments in the assessment of educational needs, and in the design, development, and accreditation of educational programs to meet identified educational gaps.

The Manager, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is responsible for providing leadership and direction through the planning, development and operation of the Continuing Professional Development portfolio.  The Manager, CPD is accountable for providing administrative and operational leadership to ensure the effective and efficient operation of all facets of the CPD program.  The incumbent will align the professional development and educational strategies and objectives, while ensuring the cost-recovery of the CME program through revenue generation from program tuition, the sale of services and sponsorship opportunities to the private sector, and through collaborative educational activities with external organizations and associations in the public, academic and not for profit sectors.  The Manager will liaise with other academic CPD/CME offices in Ontario, across Canada and internationally, to gain an understanding of their programming expertise and interests, and will play a key role in forming partnerships with appropriate organizations that share an interest in educational collaboration.

Qualifications
Education:  
-   Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Education, Health, Administration, Business)
-   Masters Degree in a field such as Business Administration, Human Resource Development, Adult Education preferred
-   Specialization in Adult Learning Principles or equivalent education and experience preferred
-   Specialization in business and/or finance preferred

Experience:
-   5 years' administrative, human resources, and financial experience in a complex unionized office environment
-   Experience managing staff and projects and with implementation and operationalization of strategic plans
 -   Experience in developing and implementing professional development programs for diverse audiences including needs assessment and analysis to shape programming, appropriate application of channels and technologies, and the design and delivery of evaluation tools
-   Experience in business development, ideally in an academic environment
-   Experience leading/supervising a team
-   Experience in program evaluation and project management; experience supporting faculty member development preferred
-   Experience in developing and implementing marketing plans, writing proposals and negotiating contracts preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Knowledge of adult education principles and methodologies
-   Knowledge of educational technologies, and instructional design theories, models and teaching strategies -   Knowledge and experience in financial management, annual budget development, coordination, tracking and reporting
-   Ability to research, evaluate and advise on the viability of new technologies and innovations for learning
-   Ability to identify and develop revenue generation opportunities.
-   Skills in negotiation of contracts and Memorandum Of Agreements (MOAs)
-   Openness to recognize when change is necessary, and to develop, implement and lead effective change management strategies
-   Proven ability to build both formal and informal professional relationships within, across, and external to organizational boundaries
-   Ability to maintain and develop an effective network of contacts that provide information and intelligence regarding instructional design, emergent opportunities, and best practices
-   Ability to develop and evaluate future implications of strategies, and consider the outcomes of situations that could develop from decisions
-   Project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure
-   Ability to organize and effectively manage financial and human resources needed to achieve results
-   Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization
-   Ability to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and to work effectively and efficiently with internal and external clients at all levels of the organization
-   Compelling and persuasive communication skills to engage individuals and teams inside and outside the University
-   Analytical skills to review periodic financial results and make appropriate recommendations
-   Ability to make decisions and recommendations that are clearly linked to the organization's strategy and goals
-   Ambitious with the ability to identify opportunities, develop action plans and set challenging goals in order to achieve desired outcomes
-   Ability to foster engagement and development of staff through coaching, managing performance, and mentoring
-   Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
-   Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
-   Ability to clearly communicate the outcomes one is accountable for, including decision making authority and performance expectations
-   Ability to identify long-range goals and design realistic plans to attain them
-   Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
