Our client, a well-established industry leader, is seeking a Cost Accountant to join their growing team in Woodstock, Ontario.

As the Cost Accountant, you will support the manufacturing business with responsibilities for COS, absorption and variance analysis, inventory valuation and support.

Responsibilities:

• Month end
  • Prepare inventory related and COS related Journal entries at month end
    • Including Slow moving provision
  • Review variance accounts for reasonability – Scrap, PPV, COS FX, freight in
    • Identify possible opportunities for improving efficiencies
  • Costing month end close procedures
  • Month end reporting on COGS and production reports
  • Work with production on incomplete production reporting and other production reporting errors
  • Prepare month end functional overhead reporting vs budget
  • Calculate capitalized variances, intercompany elimination entries etc.
  • Complete month end reconciliations – including in transit inventory and inventory provisions

• Inventory
  • Support inventory count (cycle count and annual physical count) for inventory valuation, audit support, validation
  • Reconcile inventory subledger to GL
  • Complete year end roll forward, first/last and other auditor requirements
  • Report on changes in inventory (quantity/price/FX)
  • Report on Finished goods
  • Monitor material master data (ie profit centers, material type) is correct and support correction efforts as required

• Annual
  • Create annual labour rate and machine rates for all manufacturing departments
    • Complete overhead allocation spreadsheet
    • Load rates into SAP after review and approval
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget to make sure that standard costs for all productions are calculated in line with budget consideration including absorption and variance accounts
  • Support manufacturing departments (ie assembly, subassembly, conveyors, 3rd party, electrical, weld, paint, machining) with development of functional overhead budget
  • Run annual revaluation in SAP

• Other
  • Run costing of new parts in SAP
  • Time studies for validation of routings and quantity consumed for BOM audits
  • Support preparation of files requiring COM
  • Labour utilization reports

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or any other relevant field
• CGA/CMA/CA/CPA designation (achieved or actively pursuing preferred)
• Microsoft Excel advanced user
• Experience with Job shop (WBS/Project accounting)
• Make to stock and make to order experience
• Preference given to those with SAP experience (R3 ECC or S4 Hana)
