Under the general supervision of the Curator, the Events and Volunteer Coordinator will organize, administer and deliver all events for the 2015 season at Fanshawe Pioneer Village.
 
Hours/Days of Work:
  • 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Daily)
  • From May to December – 35 hours per week.  Typically Wednesday – Sunday and Holiday Mondays during event weekends.  Monday to Friday during non event weeks.
 
Term: Full-time Seasonal, Weekends and Holiday Mondays will be required
 
Salary: Grade 3: $13.17 - $15.30 
 
Reporting to: Curator
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 


Special Events
  • In conjunction with the Curator and the Interpretation Coordinator; plan, administer, implement and supervise all programming events for the 2015 season.
  • In conjunction with the Executive Director; administer, implement and supervise all ticketed events for the 2015 season.
  • Provide post-event reports to the Curator on special events with recommendations for improvements/enhancements.
  • Establish the location requirements and coordinate/perform physical set-up and clean- up of special events.
Volunteer Coordination
  • Support administration of Volunteer Program as requested by the Curator or Executive Director.
  • Coordinate all volunteers required for events.
  • Organize all volunteer recognition activities; summer BBQs, Fanshawe Fair Thresherman’s dinner and the Christmas Volunteer Party.
  • Organize and provide minutes for all event teams.
  • Support volunteers as required at events.
  • Support community partners as required at events.
  General Responsibilities
  • Supports Fanshawe Pioneer Village Master Development & Business Plan and the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Supports Fanshawe Pioneer Village customer service initiatives.
  • Ensures the safety of visitors and staff and protect the site's resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     
Qualifications
 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in event coordination or training
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills required
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable work attitude required
  • Prior retail and/or customer service experience required.
  • Ability to operate with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Experience working with children an asset.
  • Ability to wear historical costumes and adhere to guidelines with respect to jewelry, make-up and other forms of personal adornment.
  • Ability to perform physical duties in order to carry out interpretive activities on site [Physical requirements of the position include the ability to lift and carry 20-30lbs, ability to walk and navigate gravel paths and uneven surfaces, ability to work in an environment with air pollutants (Pollens, dust, wood smoke), ability to tolerate exposure to nuisance wildlife, and, inclement and severe weather;
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Must have own transportation.
  • Standard first aid and CPR certificate an asset.
  • Must be able to provide a Police Information Check and Vulnerable Persons Screening.
