JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Computer Training Instructor (CSJ)
REPORTS TO: Technology Services Manager

OVERVIEW
The Computer Training Instructor, as part of the Technology Services team, will assist clients with technology training, computer basics, assistive technologies, ergonomics, and workstation accommodations. This individual will assist with promoting a culture of leadership, autonomy, and engagement in alignment with ATN’s Mission, Vision, and Values. This contractual position will be for 16 weeks at 30 hours per week, for a total of 480 hours.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with Client Intakes
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings to determine the strengths, aptitudes, and abilities of clients to create training action plans
  • Provide clients with technology training, including computer basics, Windows, Microsoft Office, and assistive technologies
  • Deliver computer training to clients, local businesses, and fee-for-service clientele
  • Assist clients with ergonomics and other workstation accommodations
  • Complete educational/vocational assessments and assist clients with skills upgrading
  • Regularly assess and reevaluate clients’ progress, provide constructive and supportive feedback, and adjust plans as required to meet individual needs
  • Document client progress through up-to-date case management tracking
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidates must be 15-30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number (Citizen, Permanent Resident, and/or approved Refugee Status)
  • Previous I.T. and/or Computer Instructing experience considered an asset
  • Proficient with Windows, Mac, Chrome, Android, and iOS environments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and One-Note
  • Experience with Assistive Technology such as speech-to-text software, text-to-speech software, screen readers, note-taking software, and adaptive peripherals
  • Cross-functional team player and collaborator with excellent communication, and relationship building skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly flexible, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse client base
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the community and social programs
  • Ability to travel to locations across the city of London

POLICE RECORDS CHECK AND VULNERABLE POSITION SCREENING
This position requires incumbents to submit a current Police Records Check and Vulnerable Position Screening from their local police service. A current ATN employee who is a successful candidate for this position must also provide this document unless it is already on file and not more than two years old.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position includes remote work, office work, and community work. This position will require the incumbent to work in a seated position for part of each day for administrative responsibilities, with minimal lifting requirements.  Standing and walking are also necessary each day. There is some exposure to dust, dirt, odors, noise and temperature. The incumbent may be required to deal with individuals, including alone or in close confines, who may be potentially dangerous and/or exposed to rudeness or profanity. Interruptions are constant throughout the day due to email, telephone calls, and other interruptions.  Remote and/or in-person interactions with staff, clients, and community partners will be required following ATN’s current COVID-19 policies.
