Job Description

Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Human Resources, Information and Communications Manager leads human resources, information management and strategic communications objectives and practices at CCLC (London Cross Cultural Learner Centre).  She or he champions a positive workplace culture at CCLC, and manages human resources, information and communications effectively in order to help newcomers to Canada succeed and build more welcoming communities.

Human Resources Responsibilities:
* Lead the recruitment, orientation and retention of employees, independent contractors and volunteers
* Write, update and communicate human resources and organizational policies and procedures
* Advise mangers on employee recruitment, relations, accommodations, performance evaluation, and progressive discipline
* Counsel and coach employees on any issue, including cross-cultural communication and diversity
* Responsible for organization’s compliance with the Employment Standards Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Pay Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, and other workplace-related standards and regulatory requirements
* Lead job evaluation and classification processes to ensure pay equity; advise on implementation of pay for performance principle
* Initiate and manage wellness and recognition programs and events for employees and volunteers
* Responsible for safe keeping of employee records
* Implement and maintain the human resources information system
* Manage staff training, volunteer processes, professional development and leadership development
* Responsible for effective and efficient staff meetings
* Develop plans and budgets for all areas of responsibility; provide reports as needed
* Assume other organizational responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director

Information and Communications Responsibilities:
* Responsible for maintenance, updating and reporting for the Immigration Portal as per agreement with the City of London
* Act as Executive Director delegate in managing the Immigration Contribution Agreement Reporting Environment (iCARE) for CCLC employees
* Co-lead the implementation and updating of organization-wide information management and client relationship management (CRM) system
* Evaluate the impact of information management systems (iCARE, CRM) on human resources and implements training plans as needed
* Monitor the protection of personal information; develop and maintain a documented information security framework
* Develop and implement internal and external communication plans and protocols
* Develop written materials including press releases, website content, brochures, flyers and other promotional materials
* Select media and coordinate advertising to reach targeted audiences and to ensure brand integrity
* Manage day-to-day media relations and requests; collaborate with the Executive Director, managers and subject matter experts in a timely manner to determine appropriate responses
* Build relationships with key media contacts and identify opportunities to proactively pitch CCLC and newcomer stories to media as appropriate
* Develop and implement the CCLC online communications strategy including day-to-day content development, and functional enhancements to website and social media pages
* Implement social media communication tactics that support CCLC’s strategic goals
* Develop and manage events organized or attended by CCLC staff
* Coordinate outreach workgroups and activities, including volunteer engagement
* Collaborate with CCLC employees, cross-functional teams and external partners to generate creative solutions to communication problems
* Develop partnerships with other community organizations, businesses, and institutional players
* Participate on internal and external committees
* Produce monthly and annual reports
* Manage subordinated employees, placements and volunteers
* Oversee communications for fundraising; develop a strategic pipeline of donor engagement
* Support managers and Executive Director to plan income-generating activities, write proposal documents, and help manage funder and donor relationships through effective communication

Requirements:
* Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Information and Communications Management or equivalent; CHRP preferred
* Minimum three years of progressive management and leadership experience in Human Resources, Information and Communications or equivalent
* Superior human resources recruitment, onboarding and management skills, including volunteers
* Superior results in working with management information systems and CRM
* Superior achievements in managing internal and external communications
* Proven ability to perform in an organization operating in a changing environment
* Experience in measuring human resources development and communications effectiveness
* Experience with budgeting in non-profit organizations and reporting to multiple funders
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent teamwork and organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
* Superior ability to function in an extremely diverse workplace
* Superior ability to use Office 365, database, CRM, desktop and web publishing software, and main social media applications
* Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
* Evidence of sound judgement on people and organizational issues
* Evidence of being involved in fostering an organizational culture and climate in which people have the competency, concern and commitment to serve clients well and to care about their colleagues
* Commitment to building  intercultural understanding and promoting cultural diversity
* Knowledge of refugee and immigrant issues in London area, Ontario, and Canada
