Responsibilities

Discovery Air (DA) is in search of an Accountant to process payables and prepare month end reporting information.
 
  • Process employees’ expenses claims
  • Process employees’ credit card statements
  • Maintain and file miscellaneous documentation
  • Type a variety of documents, reports, and records
  • Ensure accounts payable invoices for DA Corporate offices are processed and paid in a timely manner
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for DA Corporate General Ledger
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for DA Corporate bank accounts
  • Prepare monthly schedules and lead sheets that tie to the general ledger accounts
  • Reconcile intercompany balances with other DA operating units
  • Assist in monthly consolidation process
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly reviews and year-end audits with external auditors
  • Prepare month end reporting package by designated deadlines
  • Provide analysis of certain accounts, as required
  • Internal control testing
  • File monthly GST/HST returns by due dates
  • Manage administration of the office
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
     
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years’ experience with full cycle accounting
  • University degree in Accounting or an equivalent Accounting Diploma
  • Recently received, or will be shortly receiving, accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA or CA)
  • Strong in Microsoft Office specifically Excel and Word
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Accpac, an asset
  • Team player
  • Ability to obtain a “Secret” security clearance with the Canadian Government and the ability to gain access to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
