The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research- intensive, distributed learning environment, where tomorrow’s physicians, dentists and health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health. The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest Faculty on the Western University campus and employs over 2,000 part-time and full-time faculty and over 1,500 staff.

The Centre for Studies in Family Medicine (CSFM) is an interdisciplinary team of investigators, research, and administrative staff (approximately 50 members at present) recognized nationally and internationally as leaders in family medicine and primary health care research. The CSFM’s research is based on the principles of patient-centred care, and takes place in three contexts: clinical care; the community; and the health care system.

Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator will work with the Principal Investigator to manage and coordinate all activities for several research projects related to family medicine and primary health care research, including supporting a CIHR-funded study on virtual and in-person primary care. The Project Coordinator will develop and maintain project plans, and support the design, implementation and evaluation of research project components. The role will also serve as the primary contact for the research projects and will manage all administration, communication, data management and logistical functions required.

Qualifications

Education:
-    Masters Degree in Epidemiology, Health, Social Science or related discipline

Experience:
-    Two years’ experience managing research projects in an academic setting
-    Experience with qualitative and quantitative data management and analysis 
-    Experience managing external research grants, organizing events, and managing multiple projects is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-    Knowledge of and expertise with implementing research methodology
-    Awareness of knowledge translation and exchange principles
-    Exceptional organizational skills, including managing multiple competing priorities and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging priorities
-    Judgement, analytical and problem-solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities
-    Proven ability to effectively manage financial resources for multiple projects
-    Advanced proficiency in using Zoom, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; intermediate proficiency with statistical/data management software (e.g. SPSS, Stata, NVivo)
-    Ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis with direction, and to conduct qualitative interviews and implement questionnaire data collection techniques
-    Excellent written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete reports
-    Demonstrated ability to build strong, collegial relationships with stakeholders, research project staff and faculty at Western and other Ontario institutions
-    Strong interpersonal skills to communicate professionally and respectfully with research participants and patient partners and other stakeholders
-    Critical thinking and discernment to assess and scope areas for improvement and an ability to offer creative solutions
