Job Description

Japanese Auto Parts supplie located in Stratford, ON, is seeking a Metrologist. This is a permanent full time position.

Position Summary:
  • Supply highly accurate dimensional results, with confidence, utilizing a Co-ordinate Measuring Machine, Optical Comparator & other Metrology Tools as required
  • Maintain ACI Calibration System & Documentation to ACI TS 16949 Stds
  • Prepare/Audit ISO/TS Documentation as directed
  • CMM Programming & Cad Data Management
  • Prepare & confirm Cad Data for use on CMM
  • Maintain quality reports and perform various quality studies
  • Communicated metrology results effectively and accurately with quality, engineering, managers, and customer/suppliers as required
  • Weld technician, measurement, database management and C/A direction to production welders
Position Responsibilities:
  • Create and debug CMM Programs for inspection of critical dimensions on various parts and gauges as required or requested
  • Troubleshooting of quality issues by performing dimensional layouts of parts to part prints or Cad Data as needed and directed by QE's/Quality Supervisor
  • Communicate results precisly to ensure problems get corrected properly
  • Provide precise CMM reports, including plots, showing measurement details
  • Perform gauge R&Rs, capability studies, or other quality studies as directed by QEs
  • Develops CMM programs for critical supplier parts as well as in process checks as directed
  • Reverse engineering and scanning of current tooling is required
  • To fill in for line QC technician duties as required
  • Any other quality activity as requested
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Metrology skills, CMM programming experience
  • Geometric dimensioning & tolerancing, blue print reading
  • Surfacing & Manipulation of Cad Data using Solidworks
  • Manufacturing experience in an automotive, Tier 1 environment is essential
  • Solid problem solving, troubleshooting, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to be assertive while maintaining a positive and professional approach at all times
  • Must be comfortable communicating with Engineers, Managers, Customers & Suppliers
  • Customer weld quality (arc and resistance welding standards)
Beneficial Skills and Experience
  • Internal auditor ISO/TS System
  • Statistical Process Control
  • Problem Solving
  • Arc Welding and resisitance welding experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar quality role
Education
  • College Diploma in Quality Assurance or a related discipline is required
  • Familiarity with CMM equipment and processes
