MECHATRONICS TECHNICIAN

We require a Mechatronics Technician who will be responsible for:

  • The installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of Injection Molding Machines (IMM) and all other manufacturing equipment to support the production work schedule
  • Service injection molding machines with expertise in machine vision, robotics, electric drives, and automated feeding systems
  • Provide technical support to internal customers including education and training on the safe operation of new manufacturing equipment

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs injection molding machines, robots, post cure ovens and other manufacturing equipment, including tests and inspections on all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic or software components
  • Electrical setup & troubleshooting, updates, programming and calibration (Sensors, cameras, drives, PLC programs, electric valve gate system)
  • Develops a systematic approach to solving machine problems by using all available reference materials, including manuals, drawings, procedures, etc.
  • Removes and replaces defective parts by dismantling components; using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools; examining the condition of parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Mechanical troubleshooting & adjustment of settings (mechanics, pneumatics, feeders)
  • Adjusts machine parameters as required in order to produce parts of acceptable quality
  • Calibrates/fine tunes machines to achieve optimum performance
  • Performs software and hardware installations on manufacturing equipment
  • Electrical maintenance and inspection of machines
  • Troubleshooting and rebuilding of the material metering units and pumps
  • Integration/wiring of electrical panels and equipment/plumb pneumatic circuits and equipment
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots problems with current control systems
  • Educates staff on equipment and instructs on proper operation
  • Repairs and/or replaces any component on machines, robots, or product handling equipment
  • Arranges for the return of parts as necessary
  • Completion of all assigned job tickets in ERP system following good manufacturing and documentation practices
  • Root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and problem solving of quality issues
  • Communicates effectively through all levels of the organization
  • Follow Lock Out/ Tag Out procedures
  • Support Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives throughout the facility, ensuring safety, housekeeping and quality standards are maintained
  • Other duties, projects, and tasks as assigned by the Manager

Do you have?

  • Mechatronics Technician Diploma or Electromechanical Engineering Technician Diploma
  • 3 - 5 years experience in manufacturing maintenance with troubleshooting, processing experience; Injection molding experience preferred
  • Mechatronics experience
  • Troubleshooting experience
  • Oriented to a manufacturing organization

Successful candidate will also have:

  • Dedicated team player, successfully coordinating with team members from various departments
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to keep work area clean and always organized
  • Knowledge of blueprints and schematics to troubleshoot electrical/electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of injection molding process
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems systematically
  • Tact and diplomacy to handle challenging time sensitive situations
  • Demonstrated initiative-taker with a positive attitude
  • Familiarity with ENGEL machines and robots is preferred
  • Competent with automation and external assemblies
  • Able to work independently with minimal support
  • Crane/ hoist certification (or willingness to obtain)
