Position: Roving Support Counsellor
Location: YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth, Beausoleil Island
Start Date: June 22, 2024
End Date: August 23, 2024
Salary: $450-550/week based on experience

In this role, you will:
• Form positive individual relationships with campers
• Ensure that campers and staff life needs are met throughout their time at camp
• Ensure adequate and engaged supervision of campers
• Proactively manage emotional and physical risk for campers and staff members
• Respond quickly and effectively to accidents and incidents
• Adhere to internal policies and procedures regarding lifeguarding, waterfront, and boating activities
• Adhere to National Lifeguard standards for lifeguarding
• Assist with leading safe, fun, and challenging outtrips
• Manage the risks associated with a remote wilderness setting appropriately
• Foster positive and respectful relationships within the camp community
• Give and receive feedback in an open, positive, and constructive manner
• Work in a collaborative and supportive manner with colleagues
• Communicate in an open, honest, caring and respectful manner
• Maintains confidentiality with all sensitive information gained during employment
• Complete performance agreements with all direct reports during the first week of their employment
• Ensure mid-season and final evaluations are completed for all counsellors
• Offer ongoing coaching and feedback to staff members at staff meetings and through one-on-one conversations

Other Job Details:

• This is a seasonal position and the successful candidate is required to live on site at YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth for the duration of their contract in rustic accommodations.

Education and Skills Qualifications:
• Holds current Standard First Aid and CPR C certificate
• Holds current National Lifeguard certificate
• Holds a clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Position Screening
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and youth in an outdoor or recreational setting is an asset
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
