JOB DESCRIPTION:  Summer Student – Communications Coordinator
 
Job Summary

The Communications Coordinator will focus on external marketing and communications. They will work with a team to leverage key messages, to further the mission and vision of Nokee Kwe’s strategic goals and priorities. They will possess a fervent interest in good writing, creativity, and social media.

 
Essential Job Functions:
 
  • Attend program, staff and annual general meetings when required
  • Participate in cross-training as required
  • Attend and complete required training/professional development

Client Service:
  • Communicate effectively and in plain language with individuals, teams, stakeholders, vendors, and the larger community that Nokee Kwe serves
  • Apply their customer service skills in day-to-day work as they participate in teams, juggling multiple priorities and timelines

Teamwork:
  • Work as part of a team to develop creative communication strategies, discuss market analytics and demographics, present innovative ideas and concepts, and share strategies
  • Work in small and large groups to meet goals/outcomes that effect the whole organization

Communication:
  • Assist in the development of communication strategies and plans that promote and profile Nokee Kwe’s programs and services
  • Perform market research and review internal analytics and evaluates effectiveness
  • Create and release the messaging for various media and play a key role in the areas of writing, content development, social media and market research
  • Write clearly and concisely, and be able to see problems and solutions from different viewpoints

Digital:
  • Make use of technology on a daily basis
  • Use the computer and online software skills (Excel, Word, Adobe PDF, CRM, Google docs & Analytics, online social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter)
  • Be familiar with web content management software, specifically WordPress

Leadership:
  • Suggest innovative ideas in brainstorming sessions and team meetings
  • Take a lead role in the presentation of social media campaigns, and website review, revision, and processes
Educational and Experiential Requirements:
 
  • post –secondary degree/diploma in a related field (e.g., Communications, Business/Marketing, Public Relations, English, Social Media Studines, Political Science)
