Responsibility: Providing supports to people with developmental disability in their home to live fulfilled lives.
EXPERIANCE, ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE:
Extensive experience working with adults with a developmental disability, significant behavioural challenges, Fragile X Syndrome, Autism.
Proven experience in a leadership role within a large team with ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Experience in implementing behaviour protocols with data collection
Previous experience working with families and a multi-disciplinary team in the planning and delivery of supports
Experience in facilitating individual support plans in cooperation with support networks using a Person Centred Approach.
Demonstrated experience in utilizing NVPCI (CPI) techniques and interventions
Experience in administering and managing medications
Demonstrated experience in utilizing computer and database.
Experience in providing personal care to people
Ability and willingness to participate in activities that reflect individualized interests
Ability to show innovative and progressive attitude with a commitment to the enhancement of Personal Outcome Measures
Proven ability to create unique opportunities to people who require behavioural supports
Proven ability of being highly motivated, creative and flexible person
Proven ability to develop and access community based opportunities
Proven knowledge and understanding of Core Competencies
Proven ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment
Demonstrated knowledge of Employee responsibilities in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Act
Able to commit to support people to become fully participating members of their community
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to problem solve and good organizational skills
Proven ability to develop and access community based opportunities.
Proven ability to present an image of professionalism and have a positive impact when communicating
Proven ability to develop and implement behaviour protocols with extensive data collection, while working with a multi-disciplinary team
 
ASSET QUALIFICATION:
Experience providing 1:1 supports an asset.
Current certification in CPR/First Aid
 
MUST HAVE Requirements:
  • D.S.W, C.Y.W or equivalent in the area of developmental disabilities (Bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Psychology)
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance issued by local police station within the last 12 months
  • Valid Ontario G2 or G driver’s license. Must have vehicle and appropriate insurance to transport people supported. Completed Health & Safety Awareness Certificate (free training available online at www.labour.gov.on.ca)
  • Proficiency in the use of computer programs such as Word processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, E-mail and Internet.
