The County of Elgin has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Full-time Manager of Administrative Services - Deputy Clerk

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer/County Clerk, the Manager of Administrative Services /Deputy Clerk is involved in all aspects of Clerk duties, including the preparation of agendas, minutes, by-laws, reports and correspondence for County Council, Advisory Committees and other boards.  The Manager is also responsible for the for the management of daily opertations of the Administrative Services Department; and overseeing corporate communications and corporate/administration customer service. Learn more about The County of Elgin, and this leadership opportunity at www.elgincounty.ca. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform statutory duties of Clerk, as assigned.
  • Prepare and monitor County Council, departmental, and service Board budgets.
  • Prepare minutes for County Council, Management Team, Committees and Boards.
  • Manage appointments to Committees and Boards.
  • Establish and maintain accurate files and records of County Council minutes, reports, by-laws, etc.
  • Research and prepare by-laws for presentation and adoption by County Council.
  • Prepare correspondence, presentations and notices for County Council and the Warden.
  • Supervise Administrative Services staff
  • Approve AP invoices for County Council, Warden and departmental expenditures.
  • Co-ordinate Council functions, including the Warden’s banquet and election reception.
  • Liaison with Municipal Affairs, Finance and Ontario Ombudsman.
  • Oversee Internal and External Corporate and Council Communications.
  • Assist the C.A.O. as requested

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Public Administration, Political Science or Communications.
  • Three to five years' related experience.
  • C.M.I. designation is an asset.
  • Proven exceptional organization and communication skills.
  • Valid G License with reliable vehicle and must be willing to travel
