HIRING RANGE:          $86,182 - $109,996
SALARY RANGE:        $86,182 - $113,973

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Manager of Planning, the Planner provides planning expertise to the Thames Valley District School Board and plays a key role in the development of short and long-term plans for student accommodation. This can include: monitoring current enrolment, projecting future enrolment, reviewing residential developments and their potential impacts on TVDSB facilities, monitoring facility utilization, undertaking capital planning initiatives, preparing business cases for the construction of new schools and school additions, maintaining and updating the TVDSB’s Accommodation Plan, completing planning studies and using various planning methodologies to provide the optimum learning environment for student achievement compliant with Board policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a four (4) year university degree in Urban and/or Regional Planning or a related discipline or equivalent. 
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planning is preferred. 
  • A minimum of four (4) years of demonstrated planning experience, preferably in the public sector is required. 
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education and Education Act is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, research, analytical and presentation skills in public forums (internal and external stakeholders).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), GIS and web-based software applications,
  • The position requires use of the employee’s personal vehicle for travel to Board sites. All applicable travel is reimbursed according to Board policy and procedures using the Board’s posted mileage rate.
