Reporting to the Integrated Manager, Medical Affairs, The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing accurate financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making for the City-Wide department of Medical Affairs. The analyst assists the Manager, Medical Affairs, in preparing operating and Clinical Education budget. In addition, the analyst prepares various monthly reports for management for the operating budget and capital purchases.
The incumbent is responsible for properly administering the Hospital On Call (HOCC) coverage, including communicating with the MOH, distributing the funds, reporting back to the MOH, and providing information to the external auditors. This role is also responsible for reconciling payments under various MOH streams of funding with departments and reporting to MOH on used funds. This role is also acts as paymaster for the medical residents.

Rate of Pay: $36.04-45.05
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Qualifications
- Successful completion of an Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related discipline
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required or equivalent work experience as acceptable by LHSC
- Minimum three (3) years of recent, related experience required
- Ability to process and synthesize innovative approaches to data analysis, interpretation and communication, demonstrating quantitative and qualitative analysis and evaluation
- Ability to define the information and analysis needs of hospital leaders and Ministry officials
- Highly developed critical thinking skills with the ability to conceptualize and analyze problems with strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of Hospital financial accounting requirements and reporting standards
- Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ERP Financial systems (PeopleSoft)
- Demonstrated effective communication skills with all levels of staff and management
- Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a consultative approach
- Demonstrated advanced ability to investigate and resolve problems and to work under pressure to meet rigid deadlines
- Advanced time management and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and action oriented with the ability to work as a team player or independently
- Advanced ability to deal with stress in a manner that promotes a positive and professional work environment
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of how statistical and financial parameters interact to affect end of the day operating efficiencies
