Job Description

At Major Tax & Accounting, CPA, we’re a client-first, people-focused firm built on professionalism, clear communication, intergrity and strong teamwork. We take pride in helping individuals and small businesses navigate Canadian tax with confidence while creating a workplace where team members feel supported, respected, and set up to grow.

We’re currently seeking a motivated Tax Preparer to join us for a full-time, temporary role during tax season, from February 2026 to June 2026, paying an hourly rate of $21-$23. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public practice, work directly with real client files, and build practical tax preparation skills in a structured, supportive environment.

Potential for Full-Time Employment: This seasonal position may lead to a permanent, full-time role for the right candidate, based on performance, fit, and business needs.

What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll support a variety of tax and accounting functions, including:
  • Preparing and assisting with T1 personal tax returns and related documentation
  • Organizing client information and ensuring files are complete and compliant
  • Communicating professionally with clients to request missing details and clarify tax items
  • Supporting the team with administrative and tax-season workflow tasks

What We Offer
We believe strong performance comes from strong support. Here’s what you can expect:
  • Meaningful, real-world experience in a busy Canadian tax practice
  • Training and coaching on personal tax return preparation and firm processes
  • Ongoing feedback and mentorship to help you improve quickly
  • A collaborative team environment where your work matters
  • Flexibility where possible to support scheduling needs during tax season
  • A clear opportunity to grow—with potential for a full-time role for the right candidate

Who You Are
You’re someone who shows up with professionalism and a positive attitude. You:
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully (written and verbal)
  • Stay organized under deadlines and can manage multiple priorities
  • Pay close attention to detail and take pride in accuracy
  • Work well independently and as part of a team
  • Handle confidential information with integrity and discretion

What You’ll Bring
  • A growth mindset: you learn quickly, accept feedback well, and take initiative
  • Strong professionalism, reliability, and a client-service approach
  • Accounting education and/or tax preparation experience is an asset (not required)
  • Familiarity with Canadian personal tax concepts is a plus

If you’re looking for a hands-on tax season role with supportive mentorship—and the possibility of turning it into a long-term opportunity—we’d love to hear from you.
