Position: Gas Technician at Hobbs Welding and Boiler Services
What We Do
We are the regions most experienced commercial boiler specialists. We are a locally owned and operated business serving the Commercial, Institutional, Industrial & Agricultural sectors.
We have been serving London and much of Southwestern Ontario since 1960.
We Service:
  • Heating Hydronic Thermal systems and controls installation and maintenance
  • Boiler Installation/Removal/Repair
  • High/Low pressure steam, Hot water and DHW boilers
  • Gas line installations
  • Industrial Flame & Fluid multi-gas fired equipment service
  • Preventative Maintenance
  • Refractory installation and repairs
  • Tank and accessory fabrication
  • Pressure welding
  • Generator Installation & Maintenance
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Co Generation Systems
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have Gas Technician 2 (G2) license.
  • Gas Technician 1 (G1) license an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the field.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Be able to read drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to size and install gas delivery systems for equipment.
  • Familiarity with hydronics and commercial and residential boilers
  • Knowledge of low and high pressure steam systems and condensate distribution systems.
  • Able to be versatile, as we service a wide variety of commercial boilers, hot water and steam systems and heating issues.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, make on-site decisions and adapt to a changing work environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the role including to lift and transport materials, bend, excavate, climb and reach repetitively.
  • Service a diverse range of clients including schools, apartment buildings, commercial properties, Industrial food/drink processing, and institutional facilities.
  • Proven experience in the respective subcategory or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing HVAC equipment malfunctions.
Education:
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Maintain a valid G Ontario Drivers Licence.
  • Current First Aid Certification including CPR an asset.
  • 6G TSSA pipe welding licence an asset.
  • Working at Heights license an asset.
  • Aerial lift certification an asset.
  • Forklift licence an asset
  • Ability to progress through all levels of gas technician apprenticeship in a timely manner (95% of our clients require a G1 to work on equipment)
