As a member of the Ontario Milk Transport Association, we specialize in delivering top-quality milk with a fleet of 65 trucks, and 100 employees. We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team with strong financial expertise and a proactive, hands-on approach to help us uphold financial integrity and support our operational and strategic goals.

Position Overview
Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Accountant manages day-to-day financial operations, full-cycle accounting, and regulatory compliance. This role requires accuracy, structure, and initiative. You’ll work closely with both the GM and HR to ensure financial accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and support opportunities for process improvement. As a key member of our close-knit team, you’ll support both daily functions and long-term planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for full-cycle accounting, including AP/AR, inventory, purchasing, and general ledger
  • Approve outgoing payments, conduct cash flow analysis, and complete monthly reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, journal entries, and internal reports
  • Analyze budget vs. actual variances and assist with forecasting and planning
  • Maintain accurate financial records using Sage 50, including all reconciliations (bank, credit card, prepaid expenses)
  • File GST/HST, WSIB, EHT returns in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain capital asset schedules, calculate and post amortization entries
  • Prepare year-end reports, respond to auditor inquiries, and record adjustments
  • Manage promissory notes and ensure compliance with repayment terms
  • Prepare board packages and contribute to financial planning
  • Collaborate with HR and Operations to ensure accurate and timely financial data
  • Develop, recommend, and implement new accounting processes and internal controls
  • Foster strong internal and external relationships
  • Perform related administrative accounting tasks such as invoicing, coding payables, and billing

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience; experience in a co-operative or small business is an asset
  • Proficient in Sage 50 and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Motivated self-starter who takes initiative and ownership
