Solutions Analyst

 

The Solution Analyst is responsible for ensuring and leading the effective application of Autodata’s solutions and technology to business problems and opportunities – whether ours or our client’s. Solution Analysts work closely with our sales team and clients to elicit, analyze, specify and validate the business and functional requirements of projects and users and ensure these are clear so Autodata systems architects’ and technical leads can then build a final plan and technology solution.  This may be accomplished through consulting interviews and a variety of Use Case models or modeling tools.

 

Additionally, Solution Analysts will apply proven communication, analytical, problem-solving and project management/coordination skills to help support the development process and ensure that project deliverables are met according to specifications. On smaller projects, the Solution Analyst may act as PM or assume some project coordinator activities through the development lifecycle.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1.  Presales Activities                                                                          

Ø  work with sales organization and clients to understand client needs, vision, project scope  and design solutions

Ø  As needed, created high level requirements documents appropriate to the sales phase and strategy 

Ø  assist with responses to client proposal requests (RFIs and RFPs)

 

2.     Requirements Creation                                                                  

Ø  once the project is sold and moves into detail design phase, collaborate with the Solution Consulting team, Architects and project sponsors to clarify/refine project scope and vision

Ø  clearly identify project stakeholders and establish user classes as well as their characteristics.

Ø  identify and establish scope and parameters of requirements analysis in order to define impact, outcome criteria, and measure-taking actions.

Ø  conduct interviews and product analysis to gather quality user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios and other methods.

Ø  with our creative team and user specialists, lead usability perspective of the project - complete usability assessments, walkthroughs, learning system

Ø  translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team

Ø  create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team

Ø  work with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements

Ø  where necessary, develop prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on findings

Ø  analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards

Ø  may be asked to design and document logical data/object model (e.g. objects, methods, method contract, entities, attributes etc)

 

3.  Requirements Tracking, Modifications and Improvements  

Ø  develop and/or utilize standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirement specifications – both business and functional

Ø  ensure the document trail allows all team members to follow from analysis through systems design and quality testing

Ø  stay connected throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the vision is maintained, manage and track the status of requirements, enforce and redefine as necessary.

Ø  communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications, verbally or through written documentation, to project managers, sponsors and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood

Ø  with PM ensure ALL sign offs are received on changes.

Ø  contribute to system implementation planning and business training strategy

Ø  design and or participate in walk-throughs

 

Qualifications:

 

Ø  College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, finance or information systems

Ø  5+ years related work experience (10+ years for Senior)

Ø  Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development.

Ø  General knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.

Ø  Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language.

Ø  Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required

Ø  Good understanding of project management principles, PC skills and hands-on experience building tools and presentations with the Microsoft suite of products

Ø  Working knowledge of a variety of programming languages including JAVA, .net, HTML an asset

Ø  Highly self motivated, self directed and able to exercise independent judgment, take action

Ø  Excellent analytical, mathematical and creative problem-solving skills.

Ø  Solid understanding of Autodata’s goals and objectives

Ø  Excellent listening, interviewing, oral communication, documentation/writing and diplomacy skills

Ø  Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.

Ø  Strong customer service orientation.

Ø  Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Ø  Ability to manage and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Ø  Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
