Job Description
Early Childhood Educator Full-Time - 12 Month Contract
We are looking to hire one full-time contract Early Childhood Educator. The incumbent will work full-time hours for a 12-month contract position beginning in October 2020 and ending in October 2021.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and coordinate programs for specific groups of children in accordance with the policies of the centre
- Gear the program to the needs of the individual child with concerns for his/her interests, special needs, talents, and take into consideration individual style and pace of learning
- Lead children in activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, demonstrating the use of simple musical instruments, preparing craft materials and demonstrating their use, providing opportunities for creative expression through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical fitness, and taking the children to local points of interest
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, hygiene, and toilet habits
- Observe children for signs of learning disabilities or emotional problems
- Discuss progress or problems of children with parents and other staff members
- Establish and maintain a positive liaison with parents of the children
- Maintain a courteous and professional relationship with all co-workers
- Attend mandatory meetings and workshops to develop and discuss new teaching methods
- Arrange rooms and furniture for lunch and rest periods
- Maintain day care equipment and assist in housekeeping duties
- Ensure that health and safety standards, including current COVID-19 policies and practices, are maintained and observed
- Be a role model to staff and customers, exemplify KidZone’s values, and maintain a high standard of work ethic
Qualifications & Education
- A college diploma or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education is required
- Current member of the College of Early Childhood Education Ontario is required
- Vulnerable persons check dated within the last six months required
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate is considered as asset
