We are hiring a Buyer in our St. Thomas, ON location!

A Buyer is responsible for managing all purchasing activities of assigned suppliers and commodities. This role will participate in new supplier selection and will be responsible for building positive relationships with all suppliers.

What You Will Do:

• Responsible for the life cycle of an order including submitting request for quotation (RFQ), daily management of orders (crafting POs, delivery tracking, receipt of goods booking and payment of invoices), and performance to end of product life.

• Responsible for Masco Canada’s relationship with vendors which includes building positive relationships with current suppliers, selection of new suppliers, coordination of supplier meetings and programs, and the completion of supplier reviews.

• Review opportunities to reduce inventory (reduce minimum order quantities and lead times)

• Responsible for coordinating engineering changes with vendors and coordinating quality concerns between suppliers, engineering and quality.

• Develop and maintain Commodity strategies to ensure our pricing strategy is aligned with industry trends.

• Work cross functionally with internal teams to review cost saving initiatives and cost avoidance programs and new product launches.

• Complete spend review and contribute to cost saving and cost avoidance programs

• Additional assignments as the need arises.

Who You Are:

• 5+ years of experience in a Purchasing, Production Planning, or Inventory Control position

• Experienced in negotiations

• The ability to analyze products and vendors from a strategic and tactical perspective

• Must be well acquainted with sound sourcing practices and spend awareness

• Experienced in using root cause analysis methods (A3, 8D)

• Proven excellence in analysis and decision-making

• Ability to read blue prints an asset

• Experience with electronic components an asset

• Above average digital literacy (Office – Excel, Word, Outlook)

• APICS or PMAC Courses, Certification an asset

• Community College Diploma or University Degree, Preferably in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management or related field

• Able to work independently as well as in groups

• Experience with electronic components an asset

• Experience using JD Edwards, an asset
