Cloud Infrastructure Architect

The growing Canadian team works to support global initiatives through the development of web-based tools and technologies that facilitate training and assessment opportunities, whether online, face-to-face, or as part of blended learning solutions.

We are currently looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Architect for our office in London, Ontario to help us support and evolve our global infrastructure.

Role/Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain global cloud service infrastructure and services.
• Analyse current systems, advise on strategic direction, and implement migration strategies.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation of all aspects of the system architecture.
• Develop/implement scripts, procedures, methodologies, and tools to assist with infrastructure deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Research and apply industry-standard best practices to ensure regulatory compliance, and to improve security, performance, and reliability.
• Ensure disaster recover procedures are properly documented and meet availability/SLA requirements, and implement improvements as needed.
• Rapidly diagnose any problems that occur, take immediate corrective action, and implement preventive measures that address the root cause.
• Work outside of business hours as needed on a periodic basis to perform scheduled system maintenance, and be on-call (and work from home when called) outside of normal office hours in case of emergency.
• Assist with support for other end-user and staff technical issues as needed.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Strong experience in designing/architecting new cloud service infrastructure solutions, demonstrated in a portfolio of past work
• Extensive experience with Windows and Linux server configuration, management, and troubleshooting, including automation/configuration management and monitoring.
• Thorough understanding of cloud computing principles; web services and microservice architecture; relational and non-relational databases; cryptography concepts and best practices; high-availability and performance optimization strategies.
• Asset: Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2/VPC/S3/Cloudfront/DynamoDB).
• Asset: Experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker)
• Asset: Experience architecting global “big data”/data analytics solutions
