Job Description

Public Historian position (1):

We are looking for someone to continue our history program by creating new media content that showcases the unique history of Woodland Cemetery to Londoners. This year we would like to hire a Public Historian who excels at working independently using remote technology. Our ideal candidate is confident in their online research capabilities and has experience or an interest in creating online content for the cemetery.

We are looking for someone interested and/or trained in historical research with a creative vision. We hope to create walking tour videos, blog entries, and social media posts, as well as any other specialized forms of media that you can create.

We are committed to creating a safe work environment for our new employee(s). This position is being offered remotely for the most part but will involve some on-site visits to the cemetery for photos, videos, and archival research. These will be arranged as a team after hiring has taken place.

As the newest member of the Woodland Cemetery History team, you will be responsible for:

1) Conducting research independently using any available online resources to uncover the stories and symbolism of people buried at Woodland;

2) Researching and creating one digital historical walking tour;

3) Helping to organize and execute an online walking tour that is open to the public.
