Salary:                            Starting at $55,152 per year


The Coordinator, Career Development, is the primary point of contact for student career development at Huron. The priority for this position is to support all students in developing personalized career pathway plans, including volunteer, internship, mentorship and professional development experiences and opportunities.  This position will also be responsible for assessing and redesigning career development programming and for external outreach including networking with alumni, employers, associations and community partners to secure, learn about and monitor the quality of volunteer, internship, mentorship opportunities. 

This role will be responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing coordination of an agile career development program, partnering with both external and internal stakeholders to support the student experience at Huron. In addition, the incumbent will develop and provide unique and tailored opportunities for students to work with professionals aligned with their career aspirations and to demonstrate the value of a Liberal Arts education at Huron.

This is a full time contract position with an approximate end date of July 29, 2022.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution;
  • Additional education related to Educational Counselling or Career Development Practitioner certification would be considered an asset;
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience in a similar role developing and coordinating career development opportunities in a post-secondary environment;
  • Knowledge of best practices, programs and models related to career development and internship programs for post-secondary students;
  • Knowledge of job markets and occupations as well as graduate degrees and/or certifications required for student to meet their career aspirations;
  • Knowledge of the academic programs and disciplines taught within the Faculty of Arts and Social Science and Faculty of Theology at Huron;
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent time management skills and a demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines in a fast paced environment;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to interact and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, faculty, alumni, employers, and the general public in a variety of settings, including public presentations;
  • Well-honed and developed interpersonal skills to represent Huron professionally;
  • Energetic, organized, self-motivated, creative, collaborative, adaptable, and eager to meet new people;
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively and use good judgement in all decisions.
