The Manager, Clinic Operations is an important member of the Dentistry leadership team responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the eight Dental Clinics in a functioning hospital setting. The incumbent leads a large and functionally varied team of administrators and Clinic support staff to ensure the smooth provision of dental services, managing the delivery of over 40,000 appointments per year.  The Dental Clinics serve as a training site for undergraduate and graduate dental students from Western University, overseen by full-time faculty and community-based adjunct faculty.

The Manager, Clinic Operations is also accountable for managing and overseeing the Clinic’s financial and human resources, and providing operational leadership and guidance to administrative professionals to ensure compliance with all of Western's relevant administrative policies and procedures. The Manager will be a strategic partner who leads the development of initiatives, priorities, and clinic policies and procedures, and ensures that appropriate controls are in place to manage risks.

Education:
-   University Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Health Administration, Accounting or Operations management
-   Certificate in Management (CIM) and/or Certified Human Resource Professional designation is preferred

Experience:
-   7 years’ experience managing administrative, human resources, and financial functions, preferably in a unionized environment
-   5 years’ experience providing supervision to staff and managing projects
-   Experience managing a clinic in a large/complex healthcare facility is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Demonstrated analytical ability with an intermediate level of knowledge with accounting principles and fundamentals
-   Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization
-   Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in a professional, respectful, and diplomatic manner
-   Proven leadership skills with demonstrated ability to coach and support staff effectively
-   Demonstrated planning and organizational skills in a demanding, interruptive type of environment
-   Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task with an eye to consistently producing high quality work and meeting deadlines in a demanding environment
-   Proven skills in conflict resolution, negotiation, and people management
-   Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, spread sheets, databases and word processing
-   Knowledge of dental education, care issues, terminology, sterilization and infection control preferred
-   Proven ability to work independently and achieve results
-   Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements
-   Ability to contribute actively to committees and working groups
-   Ability to present information and materials to appropriate audiences
-   Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments
-   Knowledge of University policies and procedures is an asset
