• Has completed post-secondary education in a program related to construction
• Demonstrates strong analytical, critical thinking, and strategic planning skills with the ability to execute
• Has 2 years experience in a position managing or supervising others
• Is knowledgeable about Workplace Health & Safety, WHMIS, etc.
• Has working knowledge of heavy equipment or an interest in learning how to drive loader (to cover sick time & ensure the equipment is in working order)
• Can perform in a professional manner, while working under pressure with tight deadlines
• Possesses outstanding leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Completion of CET designation is an asset
• Possesses a G-class driver's license and clean driving abstract
• Has the ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs

Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the yard and yard employees including adhering to health & safety regulations
• Ensure that daily equipment checks are completed properly and submitted
• Assess staffing needs and participate in the hiring & onboarding process
• Manage team members in resolving conflict and provide guidance on training and development opportunities
• Continually monitor and revise the plan for maximum yard efficiency
• Set up, organize, direct the labourer team to perform their daily tasks, and schedule overtime as needed
• Monitor vehicles and equipment to ensure required repairs & maintenance are scheduled with the Shop Manager
• Communicate with dispatch to understand load requests and prepare trucks for deliveries
