Job Description
JOB TITLE: Building Services Technician (Job Ref #201705-10)
DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, this position is responsible for completing maintenance work as assigned and for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems in all buildings at the College (i.e. HVAC, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, softeners, heaters, etc.)
In addition, the incumbent will work with outside contractors to ensure all building services are maintained and repaired, and will perform preventative maintenance on all boilers. The Building Service Technician will continuously check all areas of the College for problems and will carry out carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and furniture type of repairs. The incumbent will be on call to respond to emergency maintenance issues.
QUALIFICATIONS: An HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing Journeyman trade certification is required in addition to a minimum of two years’ previous related experience dealing with a wide variety of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. Strong ability to perform plumbing, electrical and HVAC repairs is essential as well as solid troubleshooting skills, the ability to work with minimum supervision, outstanding interpersonal, communications and organizational skills, and flexibility to be able to respond to emergency maintenance calls.
TYPE OF JOB: Regular Full-Time
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
PROBATION PERIOD: 6 months
SALARY RANGE: SSG 12 - $60,847.- $74,134. per annum, based on a 40-hour work week
