Job Description – Lab Tech (enviro/ag)
 
 
A & L Canada Laboratories is one of Ontario’s largest Agricultural and Environmental Laboratories specializing in soils, plant tissue, fertilizer and water testing providing reliable, comprehensive, effective services for analytical testing.
Reports to – Lab Manager
Primary Contact – Lab Manager
Main Accountabilities

1. Responsible for preparation, analysis and reporting of sample test data ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and specific test job description to meet company production, quality and service deadlines.
2. Carry out routine lab analysis such as but not limited to; preparation and extraction of soil and plant tissue samples, CO2, Ammonia, Sieve analysis, bulk density, pH and conductivity.
3. Responsible for reviewing all data produced. Also, responsible to support timely and quality results.  Any errors must be corrected using the appropriate corrective action.  Other duties may be assigned based on production and customer service needs.
4. Be compliant with all other A & L Canada Policies and Procedures as outlined within the Employee Handbook.
5. Willingness to be flexible with the work assignment as necessary to support production and customer service needs. 

 

Qualifications/Experience Required

1. College diploma/degree in chemistry or related discipline.
2. Prior experience working in an analytical laboratory.
3. Excellent organisation/time management skills.

Hours of Work
Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; half hour unpaid lunch break.  Overtime will be required; some Saturday shifts may also be required
