The Company:  At Ontario Plants Propagation Limited, our vision is to be Eastern North America’s premier supplier of greenhouse vegetable transplants.  In order to help us accomplish this goal, we need to hire motivated passionate people that will support our workforce and facilities. With that in mind we are looking for a Greenhouse Supervisor whose primary responsibility will be to supervise and organize a team of greenhouse labourers to achieve assigned goals.

Job Description/Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of greenhouse labourers;
• Ensure assigned tasks are completed within deadlines;
• Set and maintain an efficient pace for the completion of tasks, which include but are not limited to pinching, staking, clipping and shipping.
• Help maintain a safe and clean workplace.
• Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity.
• Develop teamwork and motivate members through setting of clear expectations and recognize outstanding performance.
• Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications.
• Operate various types of equipment as required.
• Participate in quality and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Maintain and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Other duties as required

Minimum Requirements

• Completion of post-secondary diploma program.
• 1 year experience as a Supervisor or Team Lead.
• Ability to operate various types of equipment.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to create logically ordered objectives.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to solve problems and make decisions.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Ability to motivate and attain positive results from employees.
• Experience working in a physically demanding role;
• Ability to work shifts and flexible hours, and long hours during peak seasons;
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
• Leadership abilities.

 
Physical Location/Working Conditions

• Greenhouse environment in rural area, own transportation required;
• Repetitive tasks, combination of standing, bending, walking, crouching, kneeling;

Wage/Other information

• per hour wage dependent on skills and experience,
• 40 – 55 hours per week, shifts may vary between day and evening
