We currently have an opportunity available for an experienced Production Supervisor.  Canada Tubeform is a London, Ontario Automotive Tier 2/3 manufacturing facility. The company is a progressive, growing Canadian based manufacturing business focused on the production of high-volume tubular steel and aluminum components and assemblies for the automotive industry.  The company has been in business since 2001 as a privately-owned company. Company size is approximately 65 people that think big in all we do.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor is the manufacturing leadership support
responsible for assigned production / maintenance/ quality related activities associated with the products
produced.

Rotating shifts are:  Day shift – Monday – Friday – 6:30 am – 3:00 pm
                                                  and Monday – Friday – 5:00 am – 1:30 pm
                                 Afternoon shift – Monday – Thursday – 3:00 pm to 1:30 am
Overtime and flexibility to work altered shift times may be required according to business needs.

DUTIES:
  • Provides leadership to Production Associates, Area Leaders on a scheduled shift to promote an effective and efficient manufacturing environment. Also provides production related leadership to the Shipping and Receiving Department.
  • Responsible for the resolution of all employee issues within the department with the involvement of the Operations Manager as required.
  • Must have the ability to motivate, mentor others and lead by example.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality related specifications are met with all finished goods products produced to yield a zero-defect production environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring and supporting 100% on-time delivery to all customers.
  • Responsible for following and achieving pre-determined production related scheduling targets which are defined by the Operations Manager.  This includes labour and equipment scheduling as required due to availability.
  • Responsible for the timely communication of all production equipment / tooling related maintenance issues to Maintenance on all manufacturing cells to ensure production targets are met and maintained on a consistent basis.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining work instructions, practices for production to ensure a safe work place environment for all employees.
  • Responsible for leadership and entry of all ERP and systems related production data to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Responsible for performing and documenting production related pre-shift meetings and communications, training activities as required.  Records accurate and adequate shift notes and distributes to key contacts daily.
  • Communicates all manufacturing related issues to the Operations Manager / senior management in a timely manner and performs other related duties as required. Utilizes personnel and resources in the best possible way. 
  • Responsible for performing limited equipment and tooling maintenance to ensure production targets and requirements are met.  This includes both planned and un-planned maintenance activities.
  • Contributes to a continuous improvement philosophy on plant wide systems.
  • Responsible for notifying Maintenance of any spare part deficiencies and or concerns in a timely manner. 
  • Primary responsibility for opening and closing of the facility (depending on the scheduled shift) at the start / end of a scheduled shift.  This includes equipment shutdown, perimeter door checks and facility security system activation/deactivation.
  • Completes and delivers employee performance reviews in partnership with the Operations Manager. Identifies needs for disciplinary actions and follows up as required.
  • May be required to drive fork lift as business needs require.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Grade 12 or GED.  Relevant post-secondary education preferred.   
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Production Supervisor in the automotive industry preferred or metal manufacturing.  Consideration may also be given to an experienced Quality, Maintenance or Engineering Supervisor.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate, or willing to certify.
  • Valid Lift Truck License, or willing to certify.
  • A strong hands-on mechanical aptitude with extensive knowledge of basic machining and tubular forming technologies.
  • Computer literacy and effective Microsoft skills such as Excel, Outlook and a familiarity with quality assurance systems are essential elements of the position.
  • High energy and a well-developed sense of urgency are essential requirements of the position.
