Job Description

Home Hardware Building Centre – London East offers a complete range of both hardware store and building centre products. Lumber, tools, paint, plumbing and electrical supplies and an extensive selection of building materials are available, along with housewares, sporting goods, automotive items and lawn and garden supplies. We are “Home Owners, helping homeowners”. The company is currently seeking a detail-oriented, motivated and outgoing bookkeeper to join the dynamic team.

Required Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must have, at a minimum, a diploma or certificate in accounting / bookkeeping. Our successful candidate should have at minimum 2 to 3 years' related experience. Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks is mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate professional written and oral communication skills, be comfortable preparing reports and providing detailed accounting assistance.

Duties:

The successful candidate will be required to perform the following:

Exemplify professionalism in the work place (conduct and dress);

Have flexibility to work independently or as a group member;

Be comfortable with preparing reports and special projects expeditiously;

Proven experience with bookkeeping and financial processes;

Develop policies and procedures for the accounting processes, and recommend improvements to existing processes where required

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial statements with insightful variance analysis, budget commentary, and suggestions for improvements

Daily / monthly bank reconciliations and cash management

Become an expert in, and oversee the company’s receivable and payable processes

Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts

Monthly HST reconciliation / reporting, and other government reporting including EHT, WSIB, etc.

Maintain a working relationship with the company’s external accountant, and coordinate preparation of year-end working papers, tax schedules, etc.

Process payroll and all related duties, including employee benefits, new hires / terminations, etc.

Coordination and ordering of office supplies.

Creates and maintains good client relationships responding promptly to client requests

· Contributes to the company’s positive reputation in the community

· Have a general knowledge of, and interest in, Home Hardware.
