Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) is seeking qualified candidates for Manager of Social Enterprise Production. This role provides leadership of YOU’s growing woodshop social enterprise, oversight of our long-standing recycling enterprise and leadership of the agency’s newest social enterprise; providing general labour for commercial construction sites. Each of these enterprise areas provide training and employment opportunities for youth and fulfil vital social benefit goals for YOU and our community.

- Overall management of our three social enterprise, woodshop, recycling, and construction site clean up
- Managing the team, including Supervisors and Team leaders, their operations, and their teams
- Oversee production and work schedules to ensure targets are meet
- Participate in future planning of the company and facility, focusing on youth training opportunities, community partner involvement, equipment needs, volume growth and improving efficiency
- Participate in hiring, training and support of staff including performance reviews
- Ensure Health and safety legislation and policy is adhered to.
- Participate in cost management targets and development of annual budget
- Daily interaction and communictaion with all departments
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing in a manufacturing/ woodworking or construction setting
- Experience in woodshop production, cabinet production and assembly, commercial or residential building and renovation
- Comprehensive understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Hands-on experience in working with a variety of carpentry materials and machinery
- Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
- Able to read blueprints, drawings design specifications and working instructions
- Strong focus on quality, documentation, people management. and training
- Proficient is using Microsoft office, Excel
- High school diploma and relevent job excperience required, trade certification an asset
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Superior time management, organized, detail oriented and ability to make decisions
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including lifting, standing/sitting for long periods of time, and manual dexterity as required
