Job Description

The Municipality of Central Elgin is a progressive, growing urban and rural municipality located on the north shore of Lake Erie in the heart of southwestern Ontario adjacent to London and St. Thomas.  Port Stanley which is located on the north shore of Lake Erie is home to one of the busiest beaches in Southwestern Ontario and the only beach on Lake Erie which is able to fly the prestigious Blue Flag signifying public safety and environmental stewardship.
 
The Municipality is currently seeking to fill seasonal full time, part time and on call positions for the Port Stanley Beach Patrol.  The positions are for up to 40 hours per week from mid June to early September 2017.
 
Port Stanley Beach Patrol Staff (Lifeguards)
Reporting to the Head Lifeguard, Beach Patrol staff is responsible for the day to day supervision of the public at the Municipality’s Main Beach.  Key responsibilities are to proactively monitor the public to ensure public safety while acting as public liaisons for the Municipality.
 
Desired qualifications:
  • N. L. S. National Lifeguard Service accreditation
  • Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Experience Lifeguarding at open waterfront
  • Physically fit
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work as contributing member in a team environment
  • Safe Boater certification is considered an asset.
 
The 2017 Rate of Pay is $22.06 (under review)
