This senior position will support, interact with and act as a sounding board in relation to the Director, HR and be able to uphold Human Resources policies and programs throughout the company. The main focus of the role will be supporting organizational initiatives, building and maintaining employee/labour relations, including support in leadership training, recruiting processes, evaluating and promoting learning, compensation, benefits and disability management and evaluating and supporting total wellness and health and safety programs.

Responsibilities Include:

• Support, develop and communicate HR programs to team members and managers across the organization, to meet business requirements, to promote employee engagement, attain organizational goals and enable culture and core values.
• Function as a Senior Human Resources Business Partner to resolve employee relations matters as required and to assist HR team with special projects and other assignments. Mentor Human Resources team members.
• Provide guidance to managers and supervisors relating to performance management issues, disability, policy and contract interpretation, conflict situations, attendance issues, coaching and disciplinary discussions and conducting internal investigations.
• Be knowledgeable about and stay current with HR policies and collective agreements. Backup to Director, HR for attendance at grievance meetings.
• Conduct assessments and gap analysis in response to business unit leaders and strategic plans to identify the best approach to support the teams.
• Support HR team as well as lead internal investigations as required regarding employment issues including allegations of harassment and other significant workplace incidents and actively participate as required. Ensure investigation follows protocols, documentation is thorough and follow up completed. Maintain copy of documentation, statements and notes. Prepare any follow up performance letters. Liaise and consult with Director, HR and senior site Manager/ Regional Manager.
• Plan employee disciplines and terminations, prepare letters and support manager. Attend as required and and follow up with payroll.
• Participate in HR communications to ensure high level of transparency and understanding with employees by preparing Cornerstones articles, Lifeworks promotions, content and other communications related to information sharing on the company intranet.
• Be key HR contact in the development, writing, interpretation and application of the Corporate Leadership Guide, Human Resources policies, Health and Safety policies and employee handbooks.
• Support Director, HR to complete and audit salary or other surveys and provide statistics for market analysis.
• Research and make recommendations for best practices in HR programs, workplace programs and policy development. Participate in and co-ordinate special projects and program development on an ongoing basis.
• Other duties as required.


Experience & Qualifications:

• Diploma or post-secondary degree in Human Resources Management with a concentration on Leadership Training/Development. CHRP/CHRL designation is preferred.
• 10+ years’ of combination of progressive HR generalist experience, including Talent Management, and/or Recruiter background, HR best practices in the following areas: performance management, recruitment, disability, labour relations, benefits administration, policy development, wellness and safety, and labour relations.
• Perform a lead role in the professional development of employees and manage the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of a wide variety of learning and development programs
• Think strategically, demonstrate influence and impact with senior levels within the organization.
• A professional team player, with demonstrated track record in taking initiative, leading change efforts and able to manage and implement HR processes and solutions.
• Manage and coordinate the development and delivery of standard leadership development programs, including building individualized and group development programs for all levels of leadership.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to relate well to people from all levels of an organization to form strong partnerships with managers and promote strong employee engagement.
• Solid understanding of the application of labour regulations, including employment standards, workers compensation, health and safety, human rights, privacy, labour relations and other relevant legislation.
• Excellent critical thinking, coaching and conflict resolution skills.
• Detail oriented and well-organized, possess strong administrative and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and experience with HR information systems
• Self-directed and team-oriented; able to multi-task and manage priorities.
• Experience evaluating, researching best practices and implementing enhancements to HR programs and benefits.
• Ability to travel to various work locations.
